Precedent Analysis

Some of you asked me for the Grand Ave. site. Here's a link for you to download an ACad version of it, so you can use it for the speculation part of your precedent analysis.

PRECEDENT STUDIES

Read Roger Sherwood, Modern Housing Prototypes

1. Select a project from the list

2. Draw as follows:

Unit plans/sections scale ½” = 1’-0”
Draw unit plan, draw unit plan with permanent furnishings and walls shaded dark blue and space pale yellow
Project plans scale 1/8” = 1’0”
Draw project plans (ground floor, typical floor(s), upper floor/roof (if different)
Draw with rooms shaded blue to distinguish from public space pale yellow
Project sections scale ¼” = 1’0”
Draw as many cross and longitudinal sections as is necessary to describe project

3. Be able to discuss rational for layout of units relative to such issues as:

Circulation horizontal
Circulation vertical
Cross ventilation
Inclusion of exterior space
Efficiency
Character of public space
Character of outdoor “landscaped” space
Character of project urbanistically

4. Speculation- reconfigure the project onto our project site in at least three
different, but equally successful ways
